Yet another homage to one of my favorite children’s story…
We all know, to some extent, that what we wear says something about us. Whether we do it consciously or not is another question we must ask ourselves.
This was the topic of conversation in one of my sociology courses this afternoon and it made me think about what my fashion likes and dislikes, and those I choose to expose out there in the world for all to see, say about me.
Personally, I don’t feel that I conform to one “style” because honestly it depends on the type of mood I’m in, who I will be interacting with throughout the day, and what activities I expect to engage in. In addition, my personal experiences have taken me all over the map and so one day I may feel like dressing downs while on another day I may have to dress for the appropriate professional event. Each look embodying different aspects of our culture in different ways.
This topic of discussion provided some food for thought and so I pass it on for you to munch on since, as a fashion appreciator, it made me think of the the unspoken things we are saying about ourselves by the things we choose to wear.
Enjoy the rest of your day while creating the version of yourself you’d like to share with others. What’s makes up your steez??
I’m a little late but I have to give props to a designer I just stumbled upon. Mike Gonzalez, originally designing as part of a team, (Mike & Chris) made up of himself and wife Christine, branched out on his own a few years ago and his line’s 2011 lookbook was on HIT!.
I have not been able to find any recent posts about his line and am hoping that by sharing with you all my admiration for his design aesthetic and style some information will surface. Share what you know because I wold love to see what else this creative mind is coming up with.

Printed denim is everywhere and I’m feeling the options. One of my favorites is the 7 For All Mankind cropped skinnies (pictured below). The neutral color can be easily paired with dark or light tops, depending on the occasion. Use the Isabel Marant jeans to make more of a fashion statement and the Elizabeth & James pairs are perfect for the chill days where a bit of print is all you need to make the outfit.
